Abdul Rehman Savant is a Chartered Engineer and Independent Technical Authority (ITA) in railway Electrification & Plant (E&P), specialising in signalling power systems and trackside LV infrastructure.
With over 25 years of rail industry experience, he has delivered and overseen complex, multi-disciplinary rail projects across signalling power (E&P), civils & structures, telecoms, and electrical power, with E&P as his primary and longest specialist discipline.
His multi-disciplinary rail background enables him to provide independent technical leadership and review across complex programmes, with a particular focus on how signalling systems depend on signalling power infrastructure and associated cross-discipline interfaces.
Abdul specialises in independent design and integration review of signalling power systems, supporting projects in identifying interface risks, design assumptions, and system dependencies before key design decisions are made. His work focuses on ensuring that signalling power systems are correctly defined, coordinated, and aligned with signalling requirements, LV systems, telecoms, and civils constraints.
He operates across design development stages to provide technical assurance, challenge, and clarity around system dependencies, helping reduce delivery risk through structured engineering governance and informed decision support.
For over 20 years, Abdul has designed, managed, and delivered CPD programmes and technical workshops, supporting workforce competence and professional development. He has also built long-standing relationships with railway manufacturers and asset owners, acting as a trusted bridge to support the compliant adoption and integration of new railway technologies.
His experience extends beyond rail into Construction, Utilities, Data Centres, Water, and Electronics, and includes former expertise as a BIM specialist, strengthening his capability in systems coordination and multi-disciplinary integration.
Abdul is Founder and Director of ASAVRAIL Ltd, a UK-based rail consultancy delivering independent technical review, integration assurance, mentoring, and industry leadership. He is also the founder of the Rail Technical Conference (RTC) and the Intensive Technical Development (iTD) programmes, advancing competence, CPD, and innovation across the rail sector.
In addition, Abdul acts as Engineering Director for Overseas Rail Programmes, applying UK engineering standards and assurance principles across projects in Africa, the GCC, and Asia.
His work has been recognised through national industry awards, including Digital Railway Person of the Year (2019) and Rail Engineer of the Year (2016), alongside finalist positions in Top 15 Rail Managers, Learning & Development, and Sustainability & Net Zero categories.
Abdul regularly writes for industry journals and exhibitions including IET, Rail Engineer, Railstaff, Railtex, and supplier publications, covering CPD, innovation, decarbonisation, and professional development. He is also a public speaker on Engineering Leadership, Personal Branding, and High-Performance Mindsets.
Through ASAVRAIL, he provides mentoring, training, and independent technical guidance globally, supporting engineers and organisations across the UK, Europe, GCC, Asia, South America, and Africa.
